A workshop was initiated by the designers BLESS and the Mexican architect and designer José Rojas to give a group of product design students of the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe the chance to participate in a project regarding integrative concepts on urban horticulture and architecture.

“The tablecloth was developed with the intention of creating a new kind of indoor cultivation. A kind that does not only offer a new shape for containers filled with nutrient solutions or water in its classic three-dimensional and well-known shape. The tablecloth is made of different layers; each containing seeds that will evolve into plants and a top layer, that functions as a tablecloth. The seeds are to burst through the higher lying layers during its growing process.”

Concept and realization in cooperation with Jil Enders.
